Building A Bird House

If you are someone who loves birds, you may consider building a bird houses for your yard. This is especially a great idea if you have small children. This is a great way to teach them about mother nature and also that we need to love animals. You most likely have the tools that you're going to need lying around your home somewhere. For instance, a saw, a drill, a hammer and also some wood. The next thing that you need to do is figure out where you're going to place your bird house. It is important that you pick a spot that does not get too much sun. However, it should be in a spot that still gets day light. If you happen to have a cat, you should probably put your bird house someplace so that the cat cannot reach it, such as on a bird feeder pole.

You should not have a hard time building your bird house. One of the most important things is to make sure that the roof has an angle so that it does not get rain water trapped on top of the roof. The next thing that you need to keep in mind is the fact that the roof needs to be a few inches wider in the front so that the rain cannot come inside. You may consider putting some holes in the bottom of the birdhouse so that the rain water can easily drain out. Another good idea would be to drill some holes in the roof so that the birds can get plenty of fresh air during the summertime.

It is important that you make the hole big enough for the bird to climb in and out. Also, put the entrance to the birdhouse up closer to the roof. Something that many people do not know if the fact that baby birds have a hard time coming in and out of the birdhouse. Because of this, you should probably consider making some grooves inside your birdhouse so that the baby bird have something to step on in order to get out. After you have done each of these things, it is time to relax and enjoy your birds who have come to live in your house. If you are having a hard time getting your birds to go into the house, place the house near a oriole bird feeder to get the birds used to the scent.
